With the help of a short-lived British boyband named 5ive, Queen were back at the top of the UK singles charts in the summer of 2000. 5ive had asked permission to cover 'We Will Rock You', and use samples of Brian May's guitar work from the 1977 original. Brian granted their request, and offered to play on the new version of his anthemic song instead. Roger was soon on hand to provide drum samples, and with Brian co-producing the track, it became obvious to all involved that it could be a sizable hit. Following the thunderous applaus from the audience when 5ive, Brian and Roger gave a live rendition as the opening performance of the Brit Awards that year, the song was destined become a single.

The video was directed by David Bernard, and featured a recreation of the Brit Awards performance, albeit minus Brian and Roger. Instead, the pair were filmed playing the song and then CGI effects were used to project them onto skyscrapers. Following the chart success of the single, which included the video as a CD-Extra element on one of two of it's cd incarnations, the promo was included on two of 5ive's own vhs releases - 'Five Live', and 'Greatest Hits', both released in 2000 just prior to the band's split after just two more singles. To date, it is unavailable on any official Queen release.
