Additional Info

Freddie changed his surname to "Mercury" after finishing the composition of this song, hence the reference to "Mother Mercury".
The inspiration for My Fairy King comes from Robert Browning's poem "The Pied Piper", while the lines "And their dogs outran our fallow deer / And honey-bees had lost their stings / And horses were born with eagles' wings" are quoted directly from the poem.
According to Barry Mitchell, Freddie was writing My Fairy King while he was still a member of the band.
