Two weeks after recording the video to 'A Kind Of Magic', Queen and Russell Mulcahy reunited to film the promo for 'Princes Of The Universe', in New York. Due to the connections with Highlander, the set was a recreation of several of those in the film, and the band asked star Christopher Lambert to appear. This was somewhat of an innovative idea - many videos made for songs which featured in movies contained clips from the films themselves (as 'Princes Of The Universe' did), but to actually have the star of the film on set interacting with the band was a very rare occurance - but appear he did! Lambert actually flew from his home in Paris to reprise his role of the Highlander MacLeod - engaging in a sword fight against Freddie and his trusty microphone stand.

Unfortunately the single was a commercial flop - failing to chart whatsoever, so the video was rarely seen in either the standard version or the alternate version containing a brief speech from Christopher Lambert before the song begins. This version is currently unavailable, but the standard cut was included on the 'Greatest Flix III' vhs in 1999. It then recieved its dvd premiere as part of the 'Immortal Edition' rerelease of Highlander, together with the promos for 'A Kind Of Magic' and 'Who Wants To Live Forever', and a three-track Queen audio cd - but to date this is only available in America. The standard version of the video now also features on the 'Greatest Video Hits 2' dvd.
