With two years of intermittent touring behind them, and a reconnaissance of sorts with their triumphant grandstanding at Live Aid, Queen finished 1985 off with a retrospective of their entire discography up until that point. Titled The Complete Works, the box set contained all eleven studio albums from Queen to The Works, plus Live Killers spread over two LPs, and a bonus disc titled Complete Vision, which contained 7 tracks released as non-album single tracks, including both sides of the recently-released One Vision single. The 14 discs were wrapped in plain white sleeves with an embossed number on each of them – for instance, the debut album had "1", Queen II had "2", and so on – while the album artwork was presented within a separate hardcover book, which also contained an error-ridden discography, timeline of events / tour itinerary, and photographs. A separate poster was included, which detailed a map of the world and showed where Queen had played – an extra that didn't sit particularly well with John Deacon, who complained that it seemed that the band were plotting to take over the world. The lavish box was released to coincide with the holiday season, and while such luxuries cost a pretty penny back in the mid 1980s, it was an investment that many Queen fans were willing to make. (This was also during a time when a 7 track disc of relatively rare non-album tracks was still considered a bonus!) While the box has been rendered superfluous (it was available only on vinyl), it is still a worthy collector's item, and continues to fetch high prices despite its limited availability.
