The fourth British single from 'Innuendo' was the anthemic rocker 'The Show Must Go On', which was also Queen's fortieth single release in the UK. Unleashed in October of 1991, it was obvious to all who were close to the band that Freddie was physically unable to make a video for the song, but of course the single needed promoting, if for nothing else but to give the impression that the band were still in perfect form despite the endless rumours in the British tabloid press by this time.
The answer came from the record nature of the release - as Queen were releasing their fortieth single, and their second Hits album, video and book, what better time to summarise their career since 'Greatest Hits' back in 1981. Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher rummaged through the Queen archives, and compiled what was effectively a four and a half minute trailer for the new Hits package - 'Greatest Hits II' the album, 'Greatest Flix II' the video and 'Greatest Pix II' the book, which provided the perfect cover for the lack of a 'proper' video in the strictest sense.
There were two versions made - the first premiered on Top Of The Pops in October of 1991 and was an alternate edit to the version which later appeared on 'Greatest Flix II' and its American counterpart, 'Classic Queen'.
