Instead of releasing Greatest Hits II, which was culled significantly from UK hit singles released between 1981 and 1991,
new Queen record company Hollywood Records compiled an odd hybrid of US radio hits, singles, and fan favorites and released it
to capitalize on the sudden success of the use of Bohemian Rhapsody in "Wayne's World." There was little rhyme or reason to the songs selected: one was a US-only single (These Are The Days Of Our Lives), others were radio hits (I Want It All, Headlong), and others were just included for the sake of including them. While the appearance of Stone Cold Crazy was appreciated – Metallica's version had just won a Grammy award – the presence of One Year Of Love and Who Wants To Live Forever and the exclusion of Princes Of The Universe, a bigger "hit" than those two songs due to its use as the theme song to the TV series Highlander, is baffling. Regardless, the compilation worked, reaching #3 in the US and bringing Queen back to the North American consciousness, ten years after the last time they made any true impact there.
