Released as part of Box of Trix in May 1992, The 12" Collection gathered nine of Queen's singles that were extended for 12” vinyl release, along with Bohemian Rhapsody and The Show Must Go On serving as bookends (those two songs were never officially extended, making their inclusion questionable). Most of the mixes had already been released as part of Hollywood Records' CD reissue campaign the previous year, but this would be the first time that British and European markets were able to get these mixes on one disc. However, it's not the whole story: missing are Staying Power and Back Chat, the very first two extended mixes that were administered, as are Keep Passing The Open Windows, One Vision, Friends Will Be Friends, and Scandal. It is hoped that someday, these mixes, which are fine in and of themselves, will see the (official) light of day on a Queen release.
