Instead of reissuing and expanding the original 1981 version of Greatest Hits, Hollywood Records elected to come up with their own configuration, so as to avoid overlapping in some instances. Using the US version of Queen's first internationally-released compilation album, Hollywood Records came up with a close-but-not-quite tracklisting that collected North American singles released between 1974 and 1984, though there were some notable omissions and questionable inclusions. For one, Now I'm Here, Save Me, and Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy were never released as singles in the US, while Body Language – perhaps rightly – remains the only song to represent Hot Space. Why US-exclusive singles, like Liar, Long Away, It's Late, Need Your Loving Tonight, or Calling All Girls, weren't released on the compilation remain unexplained. Regardless, like its sister companion Classic Queen, the 1992 reconstruction of Greatest Hits served as a valuable introduction to the early part of Queen's discography, though it narrowly missed the US Top Ten (peaking at #11) upon its release.
